Online prescription is the electronic version of a traditional paper prescription. It is issued by a doctor in the computer system and transmitted to the patient via SMS or email.

How does online prescription work?

The patient’s medical package includes the PESEL number. A doctor who wants to issue an online prescription must first check if the patient has an active profile on the patient.gov.pl portal. If so, the doctor can issue the online prescription by providing the patient’s PESEL number.

Standardly, online prescription is valid for 30 days from the date of issue. However, the doctor can indicate that the prescription is valid for 365 days. In the case of antibiotics, the validity of the prescription is 7 days. Immunological preparations can be obtained within 120 days.
